ethics and etiquette please

Share
I am really disgusted at how women behave today.

I am all for woman's lib and all cause hey, I am one, but there comes a point where one must know to which their boundaries lie. As a woman, you should still act in a certain manner, there is an ethic amongst women that should be followed and not taken so lightly. A lot of women today are too forward, too high and mighty, too...how should I say this without offending anyone, too slutty?

Let me put it this way, a lot of women today can get any man she wants when she sets her mind to it. I don't mind that, in fact, I applaud it because too long have we been sitting in the dark waiting for the men to come to US. BUT, like I said awhile ago, there is an ethic amongst women that should be followed. Such as, one should not go after another gal's guy.

I do not know exactly what it is about women who still chase after guys who are already heavily committed to another. They say its because of the adrenaline rush they get in obtaining something so un-attainable, the challenge and the thrill of it. However, is all this excitement worth hurting someone? Especially when that someone is another woman waiting patiently for her man to come home from a stint in another country. Just because this female is far away doesn't give anyone a right to disrespect her especially when she has the means to see all of it.

AND just because a girlfriend is far away, doesn't give other females the right to "submit an application form" nor to tease that a guy and a girl are "bagay."

It just shows that a lot of women today lack any decency, morals and class once they've set foot on a foreign land; but I am only saying this out of spite and based on personal experiences.

Hairy situation

Share
Growing up, I've been "trained" by my sisters, friends, fashion magazines, television shows and the like that women should shave their legs because it is more presentable especially when one is wearing shorts and mini-skirts.

Nowadays, I've noticed that women/girls today do not do this anymore and I do not like it. I have really crazy eyesight, from far away I can already tell if a cab has a passenger or not. So, I can also tell if a pair of legs are hairy or not and whenever I see a pretty girl all decked out but did not shave her legs, I'd just about to drag her to the nearest bathroom and give her a razor and some shaving cream.

I know its none of my business, but it just looks horrible! Women here have the gull to wear a pair of super mini-shorts (or pek-pek shorts) in hairy legs! Ack! It's like wearing a sleeve-less top and not shaving your armpits! Come on ladies, a little bit of shaving or waxing will not kill you. A little more effort in your looks would do wonders, especially when you intend on snagging a fella and rubbing your (smooth) legs around his. You wouldn't want to do this unshaven do you? He might get scared thinking that a dude was doing that to him!

And ladies, if you simply cannot, will not and do not shave your legs then just wear some pants and longer skirts. There are already too much ugly in the world now, please do not include your hairy legs to those.

Ultimate Davao Foodtrip

Share
Whenever I go to Davao, I make sure to experience as much as I can especially when it comes to food. Davao has some of the freshest seafood, fruits and vegetables around. So it is definitely a MUST to eat at least some of their delicacies.

One of my family's favorite is Ah Fat, a Chinese seafood restaurant. Currently it has three stalls, all right beside one another. When one is full, regulars go to the other two. Its THAT good!

Here are just some of my favorites:
P50 mango shake?? Its so thick and smooth and mango-licious!

Lobsters with garlic and spring onion

 Crab Foo yung

Fried crabs with lots of garlic

Another favorite of mine is Marina. They are best known for their tuna dishes, but also for serving other things as well. Oh, another thing I love about this place is that their fresh fruit shakes (except for their durian shake) are priced at P45, durian is priced at P75.
gindara
swordfish

Since, it would be a long time before I come back to Davao, I took the chance of exploring new food joints I read about in other blogs and reviews. In my last visit, I got to try Durian coffee from Blugre. This time, I tried their Durian and Cream which tasted like Durian ice cream.

I also went to Tiny Kitchen, after reading about it from Ms. Joyce B. Titular's blog entry for Definitely Filipino and she was right when she described the cakes as the best she has ever tasted. Makes me wish I bought one whole box of each!

literally tiny

Just as my brother and I were leaving, we saw this little haven: Annipie, has some of the best cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted.

....and at P30 per piece too!
Then off to Jack's Ridge, it is the only tourist-y place in Davao that I have yet to visit so now was a good time as any. How I wish I visited it sooner, after gulping down their Mangosteen Frap.

I can't wait to go back to Davao! Hopefully I'd go with friends instead of family this time, and that my friends would actually go this time and not just me and Sabs. Ehem*

It's been awhile..

Share
...since I last posted anything worth mentioning, been very busy this past week what with the retirement of my father from his post and with school I've only had very few chances to access the internet (FB mobile not included).

I was in Davao this week, helping my parents pack their things from the house my father stayed in. The house was part of his office's compound and therefore, wasn't really OUR house. The problem with my parents is that they are both pack rats. While packing I found old hotel card keys, screws, old ID photos, ticket stubs, etc. but hidden amongst the trash were treasures. I found coins, pins and buttons, even some of my father's old slr camera lenses and other equipment like a monopod. I've collected my father's calling cards and IDs from conferences and meetings he attended. I also stole this one item from my mother's "raffle box" it was a miniature light house. It was so precious and is just some of the few reminders we had of our life in the pier.

Friday, was the turnover ceremony and pagpupugay from my dad's staff and workers. It was a touching night, as everyone whose lives my parents touched and influenced were present that night. There was a video presentation, showing my dad's professional and personal life. I did not appreciate the photo his staff have chosen of me, as I have a lot of photos of myself that were more presentable. You know how in debuts, there is that 18 roses dance? Well they made a similar one only the staff with roses were to dance with my parents. Most of them cried while in the arms of my parents, they later told me that my parents were like their own. My mom would prepare snacks and coffee for them while she was in Davao. My dad would give them fatherly advices regarding work and their personal life as well as recommend them what books to read, what movies to watch, and the like. Hearing these stories made me see another side of my dad. Normally, he is a quiet man who just sits in a corner and reads his books, or watches tennis on the television.

Then, they made me, my older brother and mom speak. At this point, I was already teary-eyed from all the crying his people made. So I just thanked them for all the support, care and love they gave to my family especially to my parents. My brother gave a better speech (trust a lawyer to give a touching speech, hehehe xp). He told them how much his life was influenced by the pier, the people my father worked with, how wonderful my father was and basically how he has touched so many lives without even knowing the extent of his influence to them. Now, my mother on the other hand, talked about their lives back in the day; how there was so much politics then and now, how it was different back then and then she reminded everyone to try their hardest in attaining a high position without stepping on other people --- that its all about perseverance in order to attain what my father has accomplished in his more than 30 years of service.

I have always admired my father, but after that night, I admired him even more and idolize him. I want to be like him and also, I want to find a man that is very much like him. A man who is strong-willed, determined, intelligent, mild mannered but still has a strong personality. I love my dad, and truly there is no other man who I can love as much I love him. I am so proud of him.

Pathetic

Share
Indulge me in this tiny moment to rant and say what is on my mind pertaining to this particular woman who has become the object of my "affection."

I am appalled that there are still people who are this stupid and this clueless especially in this day and age where information is practically at our fingertips. I admit that I am not perfect and that I still have to work on my English grammar and such, but give me a bloody break when I say that I am far SUPERIOR to this woman I am about to share with you people. Her grammar is an abomination. She has not only massacred ONE language, but THREE (actually, two languages and one dialect). And her thought process? Don't get me started.

I first noticed her a couple of weeks back after seeing her photo in a particular account in Facebook. Physically-wise, she's okay, but just because she is fair and "sexy" doesn't mean that I do not have anything more to give. After carefully searching for her here on the internet, I found her on the website of a certain radio station. She was featured on this said radio station's weekly hoo ha. Probably her highest achievement to date!

Now, this radio station is not known for its CLASS or GOOD TASTE, but good golly gee, you would think that they would have chosen a woman with more SUBSTANCE. A woman that is WORTH featuring and not just another pretty face.

I will not however post her photo or her name here, I will however post her answers on the "interview portion" of the feature. Note, that I did NOT edit this or manipulated this to make her look bad, she's really just that stupid.

If I were a parent, I wouldn't DARE leave my child in her hands. I do not want my child to be traumatized by her atrocious use of the English and Filipino language. Principals be warned, you do not want to have her work for your schools. This woman definitely, definitely does not have any class or taste whatsoever. Nor does she have any morals and is not at ALL decent. She is lower than low..If I were her, I'd just give up entirely and hide in a cave somewhere. Not because she managed to humiliate herself to thousands of people but because she is a very, very tacky person. I feel sorry for her. Boo hoo..whatever.

Enough!

Share
Lately, I've noticed that I have become a goody-goody --- which is so not ME!

I am NOT a good-goody.

I am not religious, not even in the slightest bit so why do I sound as if I am?

Thankfully, I found a website where I have managed to bring back the Aliyya that everyone loves. However, I cannot post the link here. I only share it with closest friends. Whenever I am down let's say, after a certain job interview, I just go to this specific website and poof! I instantly feel better about myself because it unleashes the okray in me -- bringing back the spunk that I lost in this past week.

However, allow me to say that just because a girl is thin, fair and considered "sexy" doesn't mean that she has all THAT. It has been proven that they DON'T.
I do not pity my 'target' at all, no matter how many times my friends and I have ridiculed her. She's one of those people that TRULY deserve it. I do however, pity the kids that she will one day teach..

DAY 29, 30 Blog Challenge

Share
Finally!

Day 29: What have you learned?

I have learned to be grateful for the people I have in my life and for the situations that I am in because both have made me stronger and better. There are certain things in the past few weeks that I wish I could have handled better or changed, but after thinking it through, I came to the conclusion that some things were meant to happen and no matter what change I would have done, the ending would still have been the same.

Day 30: Who are you?

Despite all the lessons I've learned and experienced, I still do not have a clue as to who I am or what I am. I know I am me, but that's just it. There are still a lot of things I need to learn and will learn as the day goes by. I cannot exactly say that I am this type of person when the next thing I know, I'll learn something new that would change me totally.

End of the Year Resolutions

Share
Normally, people make resolutions only at the beginning of a year. Then I began to think about this year and how a lot of things are happening to me right now. Its already September, and only a few more months before 2011 rears its head, so why not make the most of the remaining months by making some changes in my life that I will continue in the new year?

So far, here is what I've come up with:
- eat more fruits and vegetables
- eat more fat free yogurt and less ice cream. Yogurts is healthier than ice cream and lighter, therefore I will not feel guilty whenever I have a craving.
- in order to achieve my goal of weighing only 130lbs; I ought to take up brisk walking, jogging or running and lose weight.
- but to do that I must learn to wake up earlier than 9AM.
- maybe take diet pills or less-o-fat pills.
- substitute white rice with red rice. I've learned that whenever I eat red rice, I become fuller and eat less during meals.
- drink more than 8 glasses of water and stop or at least minimize drinking sodas and powdered juices.
- be more green.
- learn more about make-up and actually how to apply it to self. I am good at doing make-up for other people but when it comes to my own face, I am clueless.
- start taking care of my skin. I was fortunate enough not to have any pimple problems, etc. while I was younger, but I think acne has caught up with me and therefore I must take better care of it -- i.e. applying moisturizers, toner, sunblock, the works!
- paint again. Its been ages since I last held a paint brush, and I think that now is the time that I do it again.
- learn more about photography, digital and analog. The learning never stops.
- be a better godmother and aunt to my godchildren, nieces and nephews by being physically involved in their lives as much as my time may permit me. Especially to Bernard, whom, I regret, did not see growing up from his infancy to the vivacious little boy he is now.
- be a better friend to those whose friendships I have taken for granted.
- be more organized, not only with my life but with my things.
- shop less, if that doesn't work, then shop wiser. Before I buy an item; I must check first if the quality of the item is worthy of the price, see if I can buy something that is similar to the item somewhere else, analyze first if the said item is something that I can incorporate with the things I already have, and if I absolutely cannot picture myself without the said item THEN only THEN will I buy it.

I know that it already looks a lot but believe me when I say that there is more room for improvement when it comes to me.

DAY 27, 28 Blog Challenge

Share
Day 27: Why are you doing this challenge.

Something for me to do, so that I can always use this blog for my thoughts.

Day 28: A photo of you last year and now, how have you changed since then?

a photo from my birthday dinner at Mamou

No major changes since last year.

I think, though, from last year, I've become wiser when it comes to friends. I know now who I can say are my real friends and who are only there during happy times. Also, I know now who and how to appreciate the people around me.

I am getting better at my photography as well as with my grasp of the English language (as there are still a lot of people who have really atrocious grammar and line of thinking). I have more drive now to get myself employed at a reputable company. Yes, I am still unemployed, there have been a few offers but still no bite. I am hoping that that would change soon.
